From the Archives: Exciting Things Were Taking Shape in 1915

When Annette Betz wrote about the early days of the institution that would become Metropolitan Community College, she wrote with authority — she was there. Betz was a German, Latin and English instructor who worked at the College from the time it opened its doors in 1915 until she retired in 1957.

One note: The list of distinguished alumni presented here is not entirely accurate. We know, for instance, that neither Walt Disney nor actor William Powell attended the Polytechnic Institute’s Junior College, although Powell was a graduate of Central High School, the building that became the college.
